With
Internet, email, Facebook plus long work shifts; there are more
opportunities to do things other than sleep.
There is plenty of
evidence that lost sleep is a serious matter. Poor work performance,
driving accidents, relationship problems, and mood problems like anger
and depression have been linked with sleep deficits by The Sleep in
America polls and several other large studies.
Here is a list of serious effects of sleep loss.
1. Serious Health Problems
According to studies, 90% of people insomnia also have another health condition. Sleep disorder can put you at risk for:
• heart disease
• heart attack
• heart failure
• irregular heartbeat
• high blood pressure
• stroke
• diabetes
2. Lack Of Sleep Can Make You Dumb
Sleep
plays a critical role in thinking and learning. Lack of sleep impairs
attention, alertness, concentration, reasoning, and problem solving.
During the night, sleep cycles play a role in consolidating memories in
the mind. If you don't sleep enough, you wont be able to remember what
you learned and experienced during the day.
3.Kills Sex Drive
Studies
show that sleep-deprived men and women report lower libidos and less
interest in sex. Low energy, sleepiness and increased tension may be to
blame.
4. Depression
Over time, lack of sleep and
sleep disorder can contribute to the symptoms of depression. People who
were diagnosed with depression or anxiety were more likely to sleep less
than six hours a night.
5.Weight Gain
When it
comes to weight gain, if you snooze you lose. Lack of sleep is related
to an increase in hunger and appetite, and possibly to obesity. Some
studies show that people who sleep less than 6 hours a day were almost
30% more likely to become obese than those who slept 7 to 9 hours.
